Rainbow Room (ssc space)
Rainbow Room is a smaller space within the nursery environment. SSC children frequently have the opportunity to use this space for a variety of activities and interventions. Some of these activities include: small group interventions, one to one Speech and Language interventions, group time Attention Autism sessions, turn taking games with peers, a calming space to regulate emotions.
Rainbow room is a calm, distraction free space to enable children to feel regulated before being expected to communicate. Visuals to support communication are available throughout the room, including the front door! Rainbow Room is divided into two spaces. The front space is used for group time Attention Autism sessions, with the back space being used for interventions and small 1:1 or group play with a member of the SSC staff team.
